Hello from New member.
07 Jan 2019 17:34 - 07 Jan 2019 18:42
I just bought a 1980 kz1000 from a estate sale .
I'm trying to learn about it since the owner has passed and the family didn't know anything about it.
He was a motorcycle drag racer and the bike has a lot of aftermarket parts and lots of new spares.
It's name is bullet as it's engraved into the steering head.
I'm leaning toward a resto mod and would like a modern suspension and spoke wheels in a wider rim.
I'll be doing lots of research here.

Welcome and congratulations,
that looks like a well kept machine, maybe you could consider taking care of the few things necessary to put her back on the road and ride a season while you figure out what you really want to do.
Fresh shocks , fork springs and new tires are a good idea, I can't tell if those are newer shocks from your pic but if the PO was a racer he may have already taken care of that.
These bikes handle great in stock form with just a few mods

Thanks. That's my plan.
I was wondering about the shocks, carburetors and what some these parts are.
Compression tested it today, waiting for the tank sealert to dry. Hopefully starting it this week.

Welcome to KZr!
Can't tell for sure from the 3 attached photos in your initial post #796372, but the carbs may be highly desirable "smoothbores" (popular after-market carbs which are no longer being produced).
In your immediately foregoing post #796425, the photos of the parts are not showing, and text on the screen says: "You do not have permissions to access this page."
Good Fortune!
