New to Kawasaki

Hello everyone. Been reading many posts lately and found lots of helpful information on the site. I just picked up my first Kawasaki, a 1978 KZ650 with a 750 engine, from an '81. The bike was converted to dual disc front and was owned by a Kawasaki dealer that had started the project then had it stored for quite some time. It has 27300kms on it and only 12000kms on the engine. Pretty much just needs the carbs jetted for the pods and Wolf racing exhaust.

Engine number, I think is an 81.... Has original seat labels, etc.. just need the dirt wiped off of them. Even the original dealer keychain fob.

Welcome, moparmaniacca
Those Street Stroker shocks look like they are in great shape , but I wouldn't trust those tires.

That's the goal, ha ha. That huge exhaust and pod filters aren't really helping it go too much at all right now. When the p/o installed the 750 engine, he kept the original 650 vm24 carbs, probably so he could use the pods. Unfortunately, he left the stock jetting in the carbs. They have #102.5 mains and #15 pilots. I raised the needles to the 5th slot and it pulls fairly strong over 7k, but from off-idle to 7k, it's awful. Going to order some #120s and #17.5s to see if it helps. Not really a fan of the Wolf racing can either....
