I've owned a few Kaw's and more recently had a Yamaha XJ650 that I restored. Unfortunately some lady decided to turn in front of me and I ended up in her windshield and bike was totaled. Bummer, that was a 2 year nut/bolt resto. I've always wanted a twin KZ with laced wheels, this popped on CL a few days ago and I nabbed it. Not sure if I will do another resto just yet but it will get the full mechanical work down. Runs and drives now but could use some freshening up.

The Kawasaki. Is complete right down to the tools, only missing the grab rail. No hacked wiring etc. Gonna be hard to find intake parts though.

My Yamaha before it was totaled. Full rebuild, powerdercoated everything, engine parts blasted and polished. Build thread here www.xjbikes.com/forums/threads/my-82-xj6...plete-rebuild.94192/

The Yammie came out real nice. I am sure you will do the KZ right. Must have a rack on the back? Rear signal might be aftermarket.

Yes there is a rack on the back, that will be coming off. It's huge, ugly, and covered with reflectors. Signals look stock but I will have to double check. I believe the bars have been swapped out too. The MC is at an angle among a few other things.

Rear winkers should look like your fronts just single filament bases inside. Easy to find online because they used them for many models and years. If the bars are not stock they probably just didn't drill the holes for the anchors in the switch housing. Tipping the MC is an easy fix if you can get it to hold where you want it. Bars are always subjective anyway due to comfort being most important. You ain't gonna ride it if it don't feel good. Fix that drooping wiring harness and a few other cosmetics and you'd have a nice DD without the work you put into the XJ. Just hang on to that rack if you take it off. Ugly or not they are often better than nothing if you gotta pack a lunchbox or bring some groceries home. I always had a soft spot for the spoke rims because of that "early" look. That bike will do interstate speeds all day long even with your fairing on. If YOU can take it. :P

Ditto. Will be getting some work done over the winter, looking forward to riding in the spring.

They look look like the standard signals, and the bars have been replaced though standard bars were awful, my brother had a CSR650 and hated the bars swapped them out for a Yamaha custom set.
