New memeber from Milwaukee
18 Oct 2017 09:42
Hello from The Good Land.
Bought a 1979 KZ750B in May. Runner but definitely a project bike that needs some love. Will post pics as questions necessitate. Until then imagine an ugly purple beast with 30,000 miles on it that's been sitting for 7 years.
My experience with motorcycles is pretty limited. General maintenance straight out of the manual mostly, so needless to say this forum has been pretty helpful.
Figured it was time to register.

What part of town you from?
Lived there for many years, down on the south side, K.K. and California. Then over on the east side, Humbolt and Ogden.
The east side was hard no place to park my bike inside, and now that I think about it I cannot remember where the heck I kept it because I refuse to keep it on the street…. my age is erasing my memories….
Lots of family still in the city.

I'm in Riverwest. Was on the east side for a bit than in shorewood for a year as well. You remember well, thankfully I've finally found a place with a garage. No power, but it's nothing throwing a 100' extension cord out the window won't fix.
Had my car stolen a few times over the years as well, so I'm happy to have my bikes off the street.

Welcome aboard.
An extension cord through the window sounds like a chilly environment to work in.

Yeah, no kidding. Have a space heater, but we will see how long I make it as the weather turns. Did a lemon juice boil and rebuilt my carbs on the kitchen table last week. Seriously considering putting down plastic sheeting in a spare room and pulling the whole motor in over the winter...

Yep those old garages are cold!! I fixed up the one I had on K.K. it had a dirt floor and slide by doors. I carpeted the dirt and plywood up the holes but still brought everything inside to work on it. Baked a lot of painted part in the oven of that apartment and the kitchen table was basically a work bench!
I remember when I first met my wife, She used to call me and ask what I was doing and if I said working on my motorcycles she would hang up...LOL So Learned real fast to not say that!! Used to ride over the Harbor to get her and go for rides,,,,,Man that was along time ago now!! Still have that bike and she won't let me sell it!! Not that I would!
I asked her where I kept my bike when I moved in with her on the Eastside she claims I rented a storage shed...I don't remember ...CRAZY what I remember and don't remember !
