New member. Yesterday I became the owner of a '76 KZ400. Bike is in great condition, 10,000 miles, like new tires, seat, fenders and chrome. Tank is faded , but I'll deal with it later. I have two Harleys, a '14 Ulra and a "97 Heritage Springer ( the one with the big saddlebags and all the fringes, that could be placed in a museum). I'm pretty handy with a wrench, having built three national show winning cars in the past 15 yrs. I bought the '76 because I wanted a nice smaller bike for running around town and also to give myself a winter project. This bike needs a battery and carb cleaning/rebuild .. The battery box is laying in the frame and this has me stumped. I'll post in the appropriate forum and hopefully get some help. I look forward to learning as much as I can about these bikes..Thanks, AL

Welcome, Al. The KZ400 will feel like a bumblebee compared to your Harleys but in a good way. I have a friend with a Street Glide and he loves trading bikes with me. He says it's a blast to ride something lighter and more agile once in a while. Of course, when we do trade, I have trouble cornering because I'm used to just pressing into a turn and changing direction. The Harley is a little less cooperative in that regard.

Good luck with your project.

Welcome aboard!

Some of us like the smaller twins (400, 440). You'll find a fair number of discussions about them here.

And you must post pics.

Welcome. I have a '76 myself.
Parts can be hard to come by but they are fun to ride and surprisingly... fairly rare.
