Hello From Texas
29 May 2017 09:22
Hello,
I have just purchased a custom built 1980 Kawasaki KZ1000, (see attached photo) that I plan to convert into a Trike. I have no experience in such an endeavor, so I will be needing any assistance I can get in completing this project. I will be constructing a posting in Projects soon, called "1980 Kawasaki KZ1000 Trike".
Check it out. Thank You All, In Advance!

Before seeing the photos I thought what a shame to convert a KZ1000 to a trike. However, after seeing the photos it struck me as being an excellent idea. Welcome aboard!

Thanks Ed.
This bike has had so many modifications, some of which I plan to keep, others I am thinking of changing back to what I think may make it safer to operate on the road. Such as the Clutch for instance, which has been removed from the "handle bar" location and now is located, as a pedal, just above the left side highway peg.
Any way, this is going to be a rather intensive project, to say the least.

Looks like somebody built their own interpretation of a Gurney Alligator. Thanks for saving it.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your interest.
That is going to be one of my first battles on this project. I'm going to learn how to convert the shaft drive of the KZ1000 to chain so I can connect it to the rear end that I have.
I really hadn't thought about custom wheels, due to the "Rat Bike" theme of mine. In fact I thought I will use Stock Nissan rims, painted either a hi-gloss Mocha or just plain flat black. Haven't really decided.

I just retired. Worked as a Custodian there at TAMUK, (Martin Hall to be exact) from 2009 to the present.
Thanks for your interest.
