hi, just bought a kz550c, im making it into a cafe racer. engines in amazing condition and I have nearly completed the rebuild. having trouble locating the uk reg no as i have no v5. Not sure what to do about this. someone told me Kawasaki dealers can do this for me, is this true? i aslo wanted to know do gpz550 cams fit in the Kz550c engine, i want a bit more oomph? pictures follw soon

turns out it gets worse all i have is the frame and engine number, and they dont match. Should they? the model is KZ550C and then the 6 digit frame number. looks like i have to register it all over again from new.

No, the frame & engine nos. won't necessarily match. Cyclechaos.com has the info for a number of Kawasaki motorcycles. Also, the back cover of the Kawasaki service manual usually has the beginning vin or frame numbers for each model year covered by the manual. some eebbaayy sellers include a photo of the back cover. I think the USA started using a 17-digit vin in 1981.
