Greeting from New Mexico! was created by theApehouse
Greetings!
Been lurking on this site for quite a while now (lots of great info here). Was going to comment on a thread the other day when I snapped that I've never introduced myself/said hello.

A few years ago I found an old, out of service, police bike that had been sitting in a field up north since it had been purchased from auction(along with a parts bike). -My avatar is how I found them. Neither ran when they were sold at auction and had been sitting ever since. I rebuilt the top end, brake systems, new bearings all around. Been an amazing bike. After I got the rebuild broken in, I took it on a 2200 mile tour through the southwest desert, out to San Diego, then up through Utah/Arizona/Colorado. It did amazing. Love these bikes

Anyways, look forward to learning more here!
thanks,
-Greg

Welcome from East Tennessee!! :woohoo:
Love the bike!! :) Looks like you have put a lot of effort into it!
What year did you say it was? I would like to see some more pics of your bike ,particularly close ups?
I want a Police Bike Project!! :woohoo:
I have been looking for an "Affordable" Police bike project for several years, around these parts, they are asking anywhere from $3K -$4K for them and they are trashed!! I bet you were Lucky in finding this one at a decent price!

Hello
I used to in Albuquerque a long time ago . Had an old honda 350 sl . Rode around the back side of the Sandia Mtn to Santa FE and south to Mountainairs and back up to Jemes Springs. That was a great place to ride back in the days but I just like Denver to much and left . Plan to go to Taos sometime this summer. For those who havent been its the worth the ride BUT take all the back rode .

It's an 87. I'll try to get some more up close pics for ya, although there's not much to see. I left the outside of it pretty worn looking, like the Blues Brothers mobile! Gonna shoot a coat of clearcoat of the tank too, to try to preserve what's left of the old emblem and paint. I did have a friend solder in some O2 bungs on each muffler, right out of the head. When I was playing with re-jetting the carbs they worked great. I would just screw an O2 sensor in, mount the reader to where the police cb use to be and took her for a spin, noting all the numbers at various levels of throttle.
$3-4K sounds pretty steep. I've seen a couple go here in the last couple of years in the $1600-2500 range. They looked great too, but based on the mileage would have needed a top end job done most likely.

For sure. The Jemez is one of my favorite areas to ride through! Always have to stop for Indian Frybread too (although they haven't been out my last few runs through there). Such a nice ride.
If I'm not mistaken the tunnels look like the ones up in Gillman canyon. Man, I love that place. Just past the tunnels the road turns to dirt, and provided they don't have the road closed, just a short ways up is great camping on the right side of the road, right next to river. And if ya keep going it takes ya up the backside to Fenton Lake. Gorgeous area for sure!
