Hello from Kansas City
02 Apr 2015 15:33
Hi all! I just purchased a 1982 KZ1100D Spectre. I have not owned a motorcycle for 33 years. The last motorcycle I owned was a (I think the year is right) 1982 Kawasaki 1000 LTD. I now have gas all over the floor of the garage where it is parked. I have the carburetors off to replace the needles and seats. I am also going to give them a cleaning and will check the float levels and bench sync them before I reinstall them. The bike ran fine when I test rode it and I am hoping the gas on the floor is just a minor hiccup. I am looking forward to riding this motorcycle for fun.

Hi There, I am in the Shawnee area and just got back on this site after a 6-7 year absence.
So the old Rocker gets out his bike to make a ton before he takes his leave. Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner
just like it used to be. And as he flies --- tears in his eyes ---
his wind-whipped words echo the final take and he hits the trunk road doing around 120 with no room left to brake.

Welcome to KZR.
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

If there was a lot of fuel on the floor you need to take a look at the petcock too. Unless you left it in the Prime position fuel should not flow from the tank to the carbs with the engine off. To check - with the engine OFF and the petcock in the RUN position remove both the fuel line and the vacuum hose from the petcock. No fuel should flow. If it flows from either outlet chances are the petcock has a damaged diaphragm and should be rebuilt or replaced. Ed
