KZ1000P-9 Newbie in the UK. was created by yorkieUK
Hi Guys.
I have a 1990 KZ1000P-9. It is an ex-San Diego Pursuit Bike which I purchased with a new (700 miles) engine, new forks & new wheels prior to shipping. I have had it completely re-wired (all the old police equipment just had the wires hacked-off & some were left live!) to tidy-up the obsolete police wiring. I've replaced the air intake rubbers & the inlet rubbers. I've also altered the 15t / 41t sprockets to 15t / 38t to reduce rpm at top end and improve fuel economy (I now get 15-20 extra miles from a full tank).
I've always had Kawasaki's since my first AE80 back in 1983 when I was 13 years old.

Welcome Wayne, I sold a few 1000P bits on ebay recently, I thought I'd be stuck with them in the Uk but there seems to be a cult following even here.

I'm sceptical about this 15-20 mpg increase by cogging it down though, I've tried it myself and it seems more about throttle opening than rpm.

Those AR80 were really smartl, something about the styling of all early kawasaki bikes. I'd have one even if they were rubbish engineering and manufacture just for the cool looks.

The 1000P was one of the longest production runs for any bike.
