I was recently given a basketcase '74 KZ900. Im super excited to start ripping through parts to get something together, so as a heads up, im going to be asking some questions haha! 2 engines, apparently both run, 2 frames and a myriad of other parts. I believe im going to build a very simple, very few electrical components, cafe style bike with what's there.

Welcome, keep us posted.

So the old Rocker gets out his bike to make a ton before he takes his leave. Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner
just like it used to be. And as he flies --- tears in his eyes ---
his wind-whipped words echo the final take and he hits the trunk road doing around 120 with no room left to brake.

Just in case you need to rebuild something, here's some info that may be helpful finding the right parts. The entire front end (forks, brakes, wheel and fender) are off a 76 or later LTD. Same with the rear wheel. If the rear is a disk brake, the swing arm is probably donated from the same bike. From the available pictures, the engine appear to be from a 74 Z1A. The S/N would tell for sure. The carbs two screw top covers put them in the 73-75 range as well. The float bowl design changed a little within those years, but rebuild kits include gaskets for all carbs in that range. You may want to check under the tear drop shaped cover over the front sprocket. Hopefully you find a chain oiler pump. This was only used on the 73/74 Z1's. Most were removed and tossed in the trash. No one is reproducing the pump, so guys restoring an original 73/74 will pay decent money for one. It's of no use to you. Selling the pump may add a little cash to your parts fund. I've seen them go as high as $300, but $100 is probably more realistic. Keep the photos coming.
