I have been reading a lot about my bike lately. I saw that some people say that these bikes are pretty rev happy and the fun starts after 6000rpm. What is a safe rev range for this bike? I have rarely gone over 6000rpm. Will I blow my engine if I cruise down the freeway at 8000rpm for 100 miles or so. I am prepping for a multi-state trip and want to make sure my KZ will be able to keep up with all the sporty sportsters lol.

At 8000 RPMs, you'll probably be going well over 100 MPH, I don't think you can go over 100 MPH for a couple of miles, let alone 100 miles before you get a ticket or 2-3,

Theres no reason for that motor to have to turn those kind of rpms for extended periods of time unless you really like to haul ass and get buzzed to death in the peocess!
Try a few short trips before taking your long trip to see how it runs at highway speeds, you can always play with the gearing a little if need be.
Still recovering, some days are better than others.

I think I just have a slow speedo. I replaced the speedo cable and reciecer gear. It works, but bounces all over the place. When I first got it I replaced the sprockets and went up one tooth in the rear because the stock size was out of stock. I just got home from a 20mile ride and pushed it pretty hard. I never came close to 8000rpm. I'm going to gps test it, but I'm certain my speedo just slow.

Quick question how much if any does tire size effect speeo accuracy?
