New from SoCal
08 Jan 2014 12:28
Hello all, I'm Mike from Tehachapi, CA. I've got my first bike, a basket case of an 81 KZ440. I come from a background of racing, building, and tinkering with cars. I recently got a job with a well known motorcycle parts manufacturing company, and, as you'd almost expect, I felt the urge to buy something two wheeled. Well, I've had this bike for quite a few years now, Its just sat in the back of my garage most of the time collecting dust because of a lack of time, or money to spare on a project that I didnt have full interest in. Well, now here I am getting my $200 bike running. I plan to do a kind of cafe racer with it. Light, simple, and as sporting as I can make it with my somewhat limited knowledge about bikes and fabrication. The plan is to first find the bits I need to make it go down the road in a safe manner. Anyway, I'll be starting a build thread when I get some pictures of the mess.

Welcome Mike!
I just moved away from SoCal - best place in the WORLD for riding: Angeles Crest Highway, Mulholland Highway, Ortega Highway, 38, 330 and 18 up and down Big Bear, Idyllwild, and so on. I miss mountains and twisty roads! [moved to Houston].
Once you get your 440 done, get a 900 or a 1000 to take full advantage of what your "well known motorcycle parts manufacturing company" makes!
