Hey everyone
07 Dec 2013 00:53
Name is Andy. Just picked up a '73 Z2 with a Z1 motor in it, which I'm planning to fix it up a bit, but not sure which way to go with it yet. Bike is in a pretty bad shape, so I've been thinking about going with a complete busa front end and swingarm. Anyway, I've been looking around the board a little and just wanted to say hi.

Welcome Andy...welcome to KZR. Too bad you couldn't get the original engine cases. The motorcycle is worth more with matching cases and what truly makes the motorcycle (besides the VINs) a Z2, are the internals on the motor. Visit
www.freewebs.com/750RS/
for all the skinny on Z2's. Note that I was lucky to find a matching number 1975 Z2A.

Welcome Andy.
Very rare the Z2, outside of Japan.
Do post up some pictures of your new ride.
Love to see what your starting with.

07 Dec 2013 13:35 - 07 Dec 2013 14:02The problem is the part between them, the frame, which is pretty spindly. If you decide to go with modern suspension and brakes, you'll want to brace that frame...BusaMan66 wrote: complete busa front end and swingarm

That really is rare over here; rarer than the Z1. It's a shame the previous owners already changed and (based on the "pretty bad shape" description ) neglected it. To me, in stock trim that would be the coolest 750 Kawasaki to own regardless of whether or not it was the fastest or best handling. Ed

Just think of the sale's number's if they had brought that over here.
A lot of people were just afraid of the Z1900 but would have jumped on
a smaller model with the same look's.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys, and I really appreciate all the input. That's one of the reasons why I joined the site. I do not have any pictures at this time, but I will take some within the next day or so. Bike has a stretched arm with no shocks in the back and a vance and hines sidewinder. So, even though the bike has been beat to hell, it is still a mean looking ride.
I already knew, as far as the the Z2 being a rare bike, so when I saw the frame number starting with Z2F, I wanted to see if it had the matching motor in it, but alas, motor number started with Z1E, and that's when my heart just dropped. Anyway, long story short, the price was right, so I picked it up.
And as mentioned above, I have yet to decide which way to go with this project.

Welcome Andy,
Your Z2 looks like a good start to a great project. Look forward to seeing where she goes. There are good people here that can offer good advice and support. I joined just a short time ago myself and found my time here worth every minute. Good luck with your bike and may your progress be swift and sure.

Thanks Intrepid. Yes, I agree, I've seen a lot of guys here helping one another way before I became a member. That being said, I was a parts guy (mostly Busa parts) for a while and I myself have helped a lot of guys as much as I could. Anyway...I wanna take my time with this project, 'cause it's gonna be one of my babies, but when I do start, I'll be sure to keep you guys posted.
