New to KZR

Hey Folks,

I am new to KZR and new to "Old School" bikes. I have been a rider for nearly 25 years, but mostly sportbikes. As we grow older and life changes us we change our likes, so here I find myself in the middle of a Cafe Racer build.

I am building a little KZ 305 CSR and I am thinking about converting it over to chain drive. Any of you taken on that task? Is there any +s to making the change? Are there any +s to leaving it Belt Drive?

Thanks for the help,
Mike

Hello, Mike, and WELCOME to KZr! :)

Some things coming to mind --

BELT is clean, efficient, quiet, smooth and durable, with low maintenance.
No lube fling-off on rear wheel, swing-arm, tire, fender, etc.
May be relatively expensive if ever needed to replace.

CHAIN accommodates ratio changes and extended swing-arms, but is nasty, and requires higher maintenance to run quiet and smooth, and remain efficient and durable.

Would consider keeping the belt, and spending the saved "change-over" money on more important stuff like whiskey and women.

Good Fortune! :)
