Not So New Member Rejoining The Forum
27 Jul 2013 18:22 - 28 Jul 2013 01:36
I first joined the forum back in the late 90's when I purchased an 81 KZ750E. I also met steell at that time. I really liked that bike, but it blew around on the highway too much for my liking. I went out and snagged an 83 GS1100E, and during my search I came across this 83 GPz750.
I liked the way it handled, but it was down on power (turned out to be incorrect jetting). Due to an unfortunate incident, I parked it in the corner of the garage and went through my GS stem to stern. I learned a lot from that exercise.
I joined up with GS Resources (GSR) and went on a number of rallies with that group, including several trips to the Dragon. Once the GS was sorted, I turned to the GPz.
I installed a Wiseco 810 kit, had the head milled, professionally built with stainless valves, degreed the cams, installed a new transmission (my fault, long story), Accel coils and wires, rebuilt then tuned the carbs with a Stage 3 Dynojet kit and my wideband (sniffer) up the Kerker 4-1 exhaust.
It also has a Gixxer fully adjustable rear shock to replace the air shock, Progressive front springs, Avon Roadrider tires, EBC pads front and rear, stainless brake lines front and rear, a new o-ring chain, and a few other odds and ends.
The wheels are powdercoated gray, the lower fork tubes are powdercoated black, and the windscreen is new. All I have left to do is the body work. The fairing was damaged due to a getoff by the PO, so I have a replacement sitting in a box, as well as a new decal set. All it needs is to be painted and the new decal set installed.
In the meantime I have ridden it to Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois (supporting the North American Relay Rally) and down to Brown County a few times.
I have sold my KZ and GS in the meantime, so I thought I would come back to Kzrider. There is a lot more activity here than there was in the 90s.

Welcome back kid.

Your GPz looks to not need any painting in the picture above.
Either way, great looking bikes I always thought.

Hey George I didn't see this post, been very busy lately.
I think we got the 650s wiring figured out, no more blown fuses
It would be nice to head your way and do the covered bridge tour sometime.
Good to see you posting more, don't be a stranger .
