Hi All,

My best mate bought this bike from eBay a bit over a year ago, I joined him (on my NC29) on his first ride of it to the Ace - about 5 miles from his place.

It's incredibly loud, like incredibly stupidly loud, the traffic parted for us like I've never seen before in London. We got onto the A406 and I noticed that there was some sort of vapour coming from the back of the bike, it quickly got worse and became obvious the rear caliper was boiling its fluid.
We stopped at the top of the exit for the Ace and the rear brake was pretty much seized solid, somehow he got it to the ace and we waited for it to cool before prising the pads off the disc and removing them so they wouldn't drag on the way home. Who uses a rear brake anyway?
After a couple of beverages we set off on the return journey. Thinking all was good with the world we decided to see how quick the old thing was (not very), as I passed him on my little 400 I saw something escape from the left side of the bike and he began to slow.
Turns out the previous owner wasn't big on safety and had spaced out a standard front sprocket then just tightened the standard nut on the end. There was hardly any thread and no space for a lock washer so it just worked loose, we were extremely lucky that the chain didn't get caught someplace and rear didn't lock up.
We never found the nut, but there was a surprising amount of wheel nuts and sump plugs on the side of the road.
The next 6 hours were spent waiting for the recovery truck:

My mate has no patience and I had a spare track bike, so a deal was done and it became my bike about a year ago.

Relationship 'issues' meant the progress was very slow however.. I got a custom offset front sprocket made, rebuilt the rear caliper and swapped the crappy attempt at an HRC rear brake reservoir (a clear piece of tube with an allen bolt jammed in the end secured with a hose clamp) for a KTM one with a loooong tube that meant I can hide it away under the seat. I added a baffle to reduce the sound of the apocalypse and increase the likelihood of getting it registered..

So, it's almost ready to go. I want to do something about the shit carbs, but I'll post about that someplace else. There's also a bit much chrome going on for my taste.

Here it is:
