I'm a new rider all together and loving every minute of it!!

It might be an un-intelligent question but here goes anyways....

Just got my KZ750 Spectre a couple months ago after rebuilding carbs, syncing, new plugs, rebuilt the time advancer that was froze up and changed the oil. I'm having an issue with the oil plug leaking and vibrating loose. Like I said stupid problem. I don't recall seeing a rubber washer or o-ring or anything of the sort that would stop it from vibrating loose.. am I missing something or did I just not have it torqued enough? The person before me had his hands in it and had no idea what he was doing. Me being new it wasn't very helpful to not know what if anything was missing.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as the world of motorcycle mechanics is very new to me. Thanks, Joe.

I promise its not because I am incapable of doing the work, there is a difference between pulling something apart cleaning it and putting it back together and knowing whether or not something was supposed to be there or rigged before I had the chance to see how it came apart.

The oil drain plug should have an o-ring that resides in a grove that mates against the oil pan surface. Go to Advanced Autoparts or Autozone and ask them to see Fram oil filter for that model/year bike. They are about $6.00. The Fram oil filter come with the small o-ring for the drain plug and the larger oil ring (about 4 in. dia.) for the oil filter plate. May as well purchase it if it looks like its there and use that small o-ring immediately even if you don't plan on changing out the filter. You will have to drain the oil to put that o-ring on anyways. Good luck.

Part #92065-097 looks more like an ordinary washer, but Kawasaki calls it a "drain plug gasket."

Thank you for the info.

Lucky for me I happen to have an industrial o-ring kit sitting around and was able to find what I needed.

Thanks again for the help!
