Hi from Sacramento
26 Apr 2013 12:26
I just bought my first bike, a 1982 kHz 650, had my m1 for about 5 years. Once it's fixed up I plan to ride it daily.

Slayer61, I've got a bit of work to do on my bike. Do you know any shops or private techs in our area? This kz seems to have mostly original parts and it would be great to keep it stock.

Sig,
There is a little shop in Stockton called Stockton Moto, of all things, and Rich, the mechanic has a large following of customers from his previous employer, the local Suzuki-Kawasaki dealer. You might give them a shot. That's all I got. Sorry it's not closer to you, but it's the area I am from. Paul

Thanks for the heads-up slayer. It's good to know that there's a shop somewhere that I can take this thing if I need to.

Just an update.
Got the carbs in, attached the boots to the air box, installed the head lights, swapped the blinkers from front to back, slapped on the side covers, then gave her her first hose down!
Still need some things, new speedo, throttle, tach cables. Front MC, handlebars, filters, pads, tires, lastly a paint job.
Took her on a longer circuit around the neighborhood too! Got up to 4th gear but with no license plate I gotta be careful!! Runs really nice warmed up in about 5 minutes to ride with no choke.

I had to file down the splines near the end of the stems. Get a good Swiss file and it takes around 30 minutes. Some aftermarket parts look smooth on the end, might save time.

Welcome Sig.
Nice start on the bike.
Do get yourself a front brake asap.
Getting into 4th means you must be building up some speed, and will need to stop too.
Have fun and ride safely.
