New guy with a couple of KZs in the stable

Greetings from Tulsa. Just wanted to take a moment and say hello as I've been lurking here for a while now. I've got a 1976 KZ900 "Black Cherry" with 13,000 miles thats been passed around my family since its showroom days. I've also got an oddball 1980 KZ750G LTD HSC with 8,000 miles that I rescued from my grandfathers barn. The search bar and the knowledgeable members of this site have guided me along my KZ journey. I just wanted to share some pics and say thanks!

Kind Regards,

Roland

welcome.

i work in tulsa and live in skiatook.

i saw the black cherry bike when vernon owned it.a very nice bike.
he told me he had sold it back into the family.which is always super cool to keep one in a family.
i also recognize the hotshoe customs h on the tank and the pics in front of the shop of the kz750.
did hotshoe mod it for you?
he does some really nice work.
bo,his kz engined turbo chopper is pretty wild.

you came to the right place.

Yes we did buy the old 900 back from Vernon. he's a heck of a nice guy. The 900 has new exhaust, clutch cable, rebuilt carbs, dyna s and dyna green coils. Shoe at hotshoe customs built the 750 and really hit a home run. The last thing id like to have for it are a set of spoke wheels.

Are there any shops in Tulsa that can dyno tune these old carbureted bikes?

Just fyi to anyone who may be wanting to swap mag wheels for wire spoke wheels on a kz750G, KZ900 wheels and axles fit with no modification. The only thing I had to do was use the chain side spacer from the 750 and the brake side spacer from the 900 axle set up. I'm much happier with this look.

The 750 is sooooo close to looking good. I would get rid of that rear fender and tail light, sneak in a tail light under the seat and put the plate on the brake side using one of those side chopper plate mounts.

I think it looks fine with the mag wheels.

Hahahaha . Whaaaaaaaat? Despite my craziness my advice is fit for consideration in regards to his 750. :silly::evil:

I'm telling ya. My build is like one of those movies where you have no idea what the heck is going on the whole time until it's tied in at the end. Check it now. A few more hints.

Yeah the fenders stay because I ride my bike rain or shine. But I do agree, it looks better without the fenders.

Had the rims and hubs powder coated and then re-laced with stainless spokes and nipples. They turned out pretty nice, can't wait to mount them with fresh rubber, new bearings, and brake pad/shoes.
