Wow, nice six fiddy. Those make one hellova sporty mid size rider.
No one here has said it yet, but I know some are thinking the same thing I am, so I'll be the first to say; that's nearly too nice to do surgery on. Call me old school or whatever you want, but personally I'd find one in worse condition to do the type custom you described.
I was told once to let all this go, state the facts, and move on...

What ever you do with it, have fun, and welcome to the site.

Yeah I was expecting that... trust me, I appreciate a good untouched stock bike, and this one is not it.

Like I said, it looks better from a distance than it is.

The tank is dented. All the chrome is pitted. The exhaust is held together by what appears to be foil and silver duct tape (you can see the patchwork in one of those pics), the plastic parts look like $%&#.. to do a restoration you'd have to redo literally every nut and bolt - not a single piece of the bike is what I would consider "finished" condition.

Being as picky as I am about such things, a stock restoration would require a level of time/money/logistics/research that I have no interest in.

My goal is more of a resto-mod... nothing crazy, just reconditioning the bike while taking off all the unnecessary bits. Enhancement through simplification if that makes any sense.

Thanks for the welcome - looking forward to getting it together in time for riding season!

Heh, hell the only reason I can ride some of the bikes I own is cause I'm half blind now and can't see how bad they look

I weren't busting your balls, just thought I saw something in your pics that isn't there I suppose.
The 6fiddys make damn good custom bikes. Looking forward to the project.
