Just picked up a 1975 KZ400. It had been in the process of being rebuilt when the owner passed away. A friend of a friend asked if I was interested in the bike. Here it is the day I picked it up.

As you can see the head and barrels are off. It appears that he had already changed the rings. the pistons and chambers look good.

I have started going through it. Of course I will start searching this site and others for information. One thing I am having problems with is finding a caliper rebuild kit. I am getting ready to order a MC rebuild kit. It was pretty funky in there and I expect worse in the caliper.

I have rebuilt the handlebar controls and am starting to go through all of the electrical connections. I like to disconnect, brass brush and put some dielectric grease on all connections.

I just got my first bike about 3 years ago. It was a '76 CB360. Sold that to finance a '74 Norton which had a long sleep(20 years) in a shed. Runs like a dream now. I also have a '80 Goldwing Interstate. That is my commuter bike and two up cruiser.

The KZ will be rebuild and mildly cafe'd for my son. I just want a safe, dependable, backroads bike he can buzz around on.

PS. There were some spare parts from another project that came with it. I believe it is a 1971 CB450 gas tank in great shape and side covers and air boxes if anyone is interested.

Welcome aboard, she looks like she's in pertly good shape. I bet that paint will buff out nicely.
