New guy with new to me 98 KZ1000P

Hey guys,

My name is Luis. My father and I just purchased a KZ1000P.

I hope you guys dont mind but we are hoping to soak up your guys knowledge.

We wanted to do some basic stuff like de-police it... Ha! Not super fond of the mammoth fairing.

The bike needs a rear tire and I will have a couple questions if there are options to the 120/90R18.

I was thinking of going with a 530 chain and sprockets soon, Re fresh the forks, and probably tune the carburetors.

We were also thinking if there is an option to remove the foot rest platforms in favor of regular foot pegs and controls.

Welcome Luis.
I'm not too familiar with the KZPs, but we do have a number of members with them.
Check out a tire site for the different options for tires.
I've used www.petes-superbike.com/index.php a couple of times.
Do post up some pictures when you can.

Well, welcome,I see you are started on the buddy seat. Mine is 1981 kz1000c-4, Ex- Ala. ST. I want to transform mine into a LTD .There are some smaller fairings at newmotorcycleparts.com. Chain and sprockets sounds good. A lot of nice rear sets also,do a rear set forum search.

Well since I like wrenching as much as riding...

It seems like I secured a set of ZXR1200 KYB shocks with less than 10K miles!

Hi Guys, I have a KZP1000 that needs a new seat, or repair on existing...I like the 2up with backrests that I see on your pix. Can you point me to a supplier? Thanks, Kevin
