hello from johnstown pa

hey guys just joined this evening. my names brandon. im an auto mechanic from johnstown pa. bought one of my buddy's old drag bikes and decided to put her back together for me to ride on the road. judging by the vin #, its a 1973. its a bare frame right now but im planning on swapping swing arms (was thinking something off of a zx6 or a zx10), so input on that would be great, and trying to go with some type of sport bike wheels (and again input would be appreciated there also) sticking with stock motor for now, the obvious 4 into 1 pipe, powdercoating the frame, polishing anything i possibly can, and the paint color has already been chosen. hope to hear from u guys and thanks in advance for a warm welcome

welcome.

i helped ramtough fit this zx636 swingarm to his bike.
you can go mono or dual shocks.
03/04 zx6/636 is what you are looking for if you like this look.they go for cheap on ebay.

i believe boostable used the zx10 swinger on this bike.

i love the look of the green bike. so the 636 swing arms just bolt right up? and yes im trying to keep the dual rear shock design. i like the look of visible shocks

also, on the front wheel, what would be needed to make a 636 front wheel work?

the 636 swingarm doesn't just bolt right up.

until i get through with it  .
it has to have some milled off each side, the center tube shortened and some top hat style bushings machined.

running dual shock on the 636 arm complicates things, but is do able.

i am currently in the middle of a zx636 to kz700 swingarm conversion with dual shocks.the caliper bracket has to be modified to rotate it further back to make room for the shock bracket and shock.
and then weld the mounts on.

gonna take some machine work to get the 636 wheel and calipers to fit in the stock frontend.
