Noob in NorCal
15 Aug 2012 13:51
Hello, all.
I joined this forum because I bought a 1997 KZ1000P to use as a cruiser/commuter. I'm leaving it in police trim, minus colored lights and siren. The KZ initially impressed me when I swapped bikes with my riding buddy back in 1973; his stock KZ900 for my CB500 cafe racer. (No knee-dragging for me these days.)
My other bike is a 2000 Suzuki VS1400, which I bought so my wife can follow. She hates riding "bitch."
Cheers,
Dave

Welcome, I'm also a fan of the cop bikes.
Here are a couple pics of what I have in mind for a cop bike.

Hello, triangle.
Yes, most drivers slow down when they catch a glimpse of me riding. The fact that I wear a white shorty helmet and aviator shades adds to this effect. The slowdowns are a problem when I ride up behind somebody driving 80 MPH. I've learned to give them room to slow down so I don't run up their tailpipe. Then, when they pull into a slower lane, I blast by.
BTW, a few days ago I merged onto the highway just as a CHiP officer on a Beemer was going by. I lifted my hand and he nodded. We both took the HOV lane at 75. Maybe he figured I was a retired cop?
Cheers,
Dave
