New, and not sure what I bought!
14 Aug 2012 19:08
I just bought a KZ from a guy on Craigslist that runs for only $300, so I got the hell outta there before he changed his mind! He said it was a 1983 kz1100. But not what the particular model was Spectre? The title says 1982, and no model #. Any guesses?
Here's the only pic I have right now, just unloaded it from my rapevan.

Looks close to it! I think the pipes on this are aftermarket though, the headers go down to the left side into 1, then cross over to the right side where the megaphone is. And it's been abused for 30 years!

Those golden colored engine covers lock it for me. That has to be a Spectre.

The exhaust is in the same condition as the rest of the bike, neglected! And the baffles are out, so the bike pops on let off. It runs pretty good, but seems to struggle accelerating. I only got it up to about 40-50mph in my neighborhood(no plates yet!), so I haven't even been past 3rd gear really. But for $300 it's pretty nice!

Kawasaki.com has a vin lookup, so you can pin down the year - the Spectre were available in 82 & 83. If the steering head label is gone, the vin should be stamped into the steering head on the right side.

Thanks! Looked it up on kawasaki .com and it's an 82 Spectre. But I think the cc's are 1000, not 1100 as the seller said??
