The racing issue was a loose nut on the throttle cable linkage. The flat tire ended being a loose valve stem. Otherwise it has been running great.

I have run some Stabil thru a few tanks and it seems to warm up faster and take throttle sooner. I thought it took an inordinate amount of time to warm up, but after reading through the forums that seems to be normal. I should get a inline fuel filter.

There are some caps in some weird spots on the carb that look like lines of some sort should go to. The frame says it is an KZ650F, but the engine case says KZ650B. The petcock is not vacuum assisted.

I did have it leaking fuel out of one carb overflow line on one night though. I left the petcock on as I usually do. It hasn't done it since. I guess a float got stuck open?

I removed the cafe faring and lowered the gauges.

Chances are it's just a speck of debris from the fuel that got trapped on a float, preventing it from closing. I had the same thing as you with a one-time overflow and promptly installed an inline filter.

From the frame and engine ID you posted it sounds like you have a F model. To the best of my knowledge there were 2 types of engine IDs
The KZ650BE used on the B, C and F models
The KZ650DE used on the D, E and H models

One difference is the rear wheel, E1 (LTD) has a 16", F1 has an 18". Since your bike clearly has an 18" that would make it an F1.

And as far as I know Bruce (gd4now) is correct about the engine numbers, according to Jarle's site the F1 starts at engine no. KZ650BE114501, F2 (no kickstart from this point) starts at KZ650BE124001.

How do I know what kind of mikuni carbs I have, is there a part# on them somewhere?

I am thinking they are 29mm or 33mm Smoothbore carbs VM29 or VM33...

VM29 and VM33 don't have the horisontal ribs, your carbs look like a set of stock VM24SS to me.

Agree with what onkelb says. They look like either vm24ss or vm22ss carbs.

There should be an ID stamped on the flange just below the choke handle, if not then look at the same flange on the other side of the carb set. If you post what the ID is we may well be able to tell you have you have.
