Hello All,

New to: Forum, Motorcycling,& Mechanical stuff

Always enjoyed the cafe style bikes. I wanted to learn how to do the things i didn't pay attention to when my dad was doing them (welding, engine work, etc). This is an extreme budget build, unless you count time.

Picked up this badly painted kz650 with a completly hacked apart wiring harness and back end of the frame for under $300.

I've attached 2 pics: Original pickup condition (with the fancy neon green spray paint job & current condition.

So far i've : rebuilt entire wiring harness from scratch, custom built a fiberglass seat pan, custom built speedo & light housing, learned valuable & expensive lessons.

Very close and i welcome the feedback & help.

Looks promising. You might want to think about a fork bracket. What did you do with your gauges?

Success!

Looks good Mike. Sounds like you have made good progress on a small budget. Seems to be the perfect donor bike since it was already cut up. I assume you will install new tires. Would not even consider riding on the originals. I hope you install a front and rear fender. Especially the front. They can be customized to fit the cafe style but still be functional. No fun riding in the rain without fenders. Look forward to seeing the finished product.
