Its great to be an owner of a 1979 Kawasaki KZ750 B4 ! My father bought the bike off the showroom floor new and it only has 12,750 miles on it now as I have been handed the title after it has been sitting in a garage for about 7 years - now i am trusted it with its revival!

Been riding it for about a year now and learning as I go along!

With the help of a local Kawasaki mechanic I have been slowly understanding just how persnicikty these rascals are, but, thats part of the fun isnt it?? Currently dealing with the issue of the flywheel/rotor spinning loose and starter clutch not engaging! ugh!!! Baptised by fire!!!!!!!

Kawasaki lets the good time roll !!!!!!

Welcome to the pack. If I remember correctly, there's something "persnickity" about the big twin starter clutches. You my want to see if you can catch the attention of the big twin owners on this site, or peruse the archives for articles about it.

Have fun!

Welcome razorblade, your bike looks to be in great shape.
The key to keeping the rotor fixed is

when installing the LH thread bolt holding the rotor to the end of the crank.
I was having a problem with the rotor comming loose after rebuilding the starter clutch and this fixed it (going on 4 years, no problems).

Check the relay ride -leg 3 if you are interested in joining in whenever it comes thru the St.Louis area.

Even subtracting for the 7 years it was left sitting, it's still less than 500 miles per year :woohoo: Why has it seen so little use

Good looking bike, though - it's your luck that your dad didn't use it up before you got it ;)

Dad just parked it in the garage and since all the boys moved away he just rode it around the trails with grandkids on it around the property for a few years before sitting it and I asked if I could have it...I have about $1600 in it with tires, pipes, carb rebuild, clutch cable, tune up, air filter, oil change etc.... lil things add up! But so worth it!

Trying to figure out now how to put some cheap saddlebags on it so wife can still use footpegs and ride with me. They need to go pretty far back so may take some imagination?? Rear cowling seems to be in the way and not tuck under seat like other bikes........
