Hey guys, newbie here! Just bought my '82 KZ305

This is the first street motorcycle I have ever owned (had a dirtbike 16 years ago when I was a kid).

I figure this would be a good bike to learn on, and in meantime take good care of it and pass it on to someone else to use it for same or restore.

Now I just need to get it running right. It starts but only after much cranking. Gonna have to drain it's fuel tank and change fuel filter first.

That is a very nice bike. It seems the carbs are leaking. Why don't you try and change the gas in the tank and add some seafoam to fresh gas and run the bike for a while to see if the seafoam removes the varnish.

A oil change and service and you should be good.
