the new guy

Hello. I am new to kawasaki, but not new to bikes. I just bought an 82 kz1000 ltd. I paid $1000 for it, put another $100 in a battery, plugs, and carb cleaner. It runs beautifully. It handles well, brakes decently, it's relatively comfortable. I'm happy with the purchase. The guy I bought it off of said it has "the police engine." Any insights on that one? Also of I use flat black header paint on the engine, will it be more prone to overheating?

You have the "J" series motor, it was used from 81 up through the end of the Air-Cooled Era.
