Hi!
I purchased a 1977 KZ 1000 at the end of last summer. I picked it up in Seattle and drove to it's new home in Vancouver. I am building a 76 ironhead chopper as well but wanted a bike to rip around on while I worked on the chop project. The guy I bought it from originally bought the bike with 700 OG kms, then did a full frame off rebuild and turned it into a rat racer that you see in my avatar photo. As the season grew near I decided to do a few things to the KZ that spoke to me when I bought it. In the past month,I powdercoated the rims and hubs black, cross drilled my rotors, relaced rims with new spokes, had my tins painted Kawi green, new clip ons, new piggyback shocks, new petcock & re-lined my tank. fully re-built the carbs, wrapped the custom header. Then when I was putting on my new back wheel, I turned around for 2 seconds to grab something, and she fell over. Smashed my front brake master cylinder to hell. That put off this weekend's ride. Have new CBR1000 clutch and brake controls with CRG shortys that I get tomorrow. But the ride will have to wait til next week.
Glad I found this forum, haven't had a chance to really look around yet, plus I have a few questions for you KZ vets. Just thought I'd do an intro first.
here's what she looked like before the back wheel went on.
cheers!
