Hello all. I'm a new member from Minneapolis, where for the first time ever we have seen great riding weather in March. I purchased my KZ about 4 years ago as my first bike (up from a 200cc dirtbike). I had some battles with her, and she was very stubborn at times, but we ended up travelling quite a few miles together, and although she tried a few times, she never threw me off of her.

She ended up in storage for the past 2 years due to my job.. and I figured I would sell her. After looking at her for a while though, and realizing she doesn't really need that much work, I've decided to keep her. I'm kind of excited to ride her again.. nothing gets looks around here like an old KZ. Hopefully the pics work.

Finally got the pictures working. So there she is. Bought her from a junkyard and spent a few months getting her into shape. Ended up putting new pipes on, rejetting, new points / condenser, and some fuel filters.. then a lot of trial and error. Now after sitting for a while she's looking at needing the rust in her tank dealt with, carbs cleaned / synched, something with the rear wheel / rim (back tire shakes a lot above 45mph.. I rode her a little flat at one point and think I might have damaged the rim).. while I'm doing that I'll probably do a new sprocket and chain. After that, basic maintenance as she's been neglected for a while. Maybe if I get some money I'll try to put an electronic ignition in her and say goodbye to points forever.

I'm starting to remember how frustrated this old girl made me.. and how happy I was she had a kick starter

Welcome Hightio, good to see another 750 twin, from the twin cities no less. Glad you found your way here. Your bike looks sharp with those colors.
As for the rear end shake it could be anything from the swing arm pivot bearings to loose spokes/out of balance wheel.
Try the easy things first: with the bike on the center stand and the rear wheel off the ground,
1) check that the rear axle is tight.
2)check for swing arm bushing play.
3)check for wheel bearing play.
4)check for loose or broken spokes.
5)check for tire/wheel out of round or side to side motion when rotating.
6)check that the rim locks inside tire are in the holes across from each other. I eliminated the rim locks on mine several years ago and have not had any problems.

Check the Relay Ride Leg 3 thread if you would like to participate and for others in your area.

Good luck,
Jim
