New KZ900 Rider - Ohio

Hi. I'm new to riding but have been around it all my life. Why it took me until I was almost 30 to buy a bike is beyond me. I just bought a 76 KZ 900 LTD. The KZ's have a long history in my family. My step dad who owns a local bike shop, bought his first KZ900 when he was 18. He still has it and it's set up as a drag bike now. He has owned numerous KZ's in the past 30 years. He just finished rebuilding a KZ 900. My older brother has an 81 KZ 1000 LTD. My younger brother also has a KZ 900 and my youngest brother is getting ready to ride a KZ 650 when he turns 15 1/2.

I'm hoping to get a lot of riding in this summer. I'm also hoping to connect with other enthusiasts and join some make specific rides or general rides.

Welcome. If you're looking to meet some people from the Forum, we are actually doing a relay ride now. Passing along a flag from person to person, riding through all the States, and parts of Canada too. Some are doing it as a group ride if they live close enough. I think your location would put you in the second leg, starting in a couple of months. If you're interested that is.

I'm in Dover, about 45 minutes south of Akron on 77. Thanks for the suggestion about the riders courses. I was thinking about taking one this spring. I've heard from a lot of people that they are very good for new riders. I've attached some pics of my bike when I first brought it home. It's a little cleaner now but you get the idea. I plan on painting it a lighter shade of green. I want to keep it retro though.
