Hi guys
07 Mar 2012 18:49
Well this is my first post so hi.
I am currently staring at my new 89 KZ1k debating to do a full and complete rebuild.
Before I can tear it down I have to get rid of this 1987 CBR600 hurricane that is currently taking up my entire car port as I wait for parts to get in so I can finish the valve train adjustment and the carbs rebuilt and hopefully get it the hell out of here.
Anyway... back on topic.
So I want to completely rebuild my kz1000 obviously will be buying the service book.
I do have some questions and I understand this isn't the exact appropiate thread to do it in.
What is it running to rebuild a motor yourself?
The things I need to find is someone who can check and machine my crank. I would like new rod bearings and the crank welded. Basically just sourcing everything out.

welcome.
why do u think u need new rod bearings? it is not norrmal to replace them. they are rollers .
there r only a few who tackle that. Falcon, and Garner r popular.big bucks.
if its just a rider, most guys would just get another crank .

I just want to make sure they are in good condition. I am at least going to do the top end. I want to make a daily driver long distance cruise. I have no idea whats good and whats bad in it until I tear it all down.
