G'Day . . . It's Been A Long Time
11 Feb 2012 07:11 - 11 Feb 2012 07:12
I used to be a regular on KZr way, way, way back . . . but it has been some years since my last visit. So much has changed here, that I think I may qualify as a "newbie" again.
So as way of an re-introduction . . . I live in Sydney, Australia and have a 1978 Z650 B2 which I restored a while back but it is not exactly "stock" any more.
I also have a 2005 ZRX1200, which is also "not exactly stock". You would be surprised how similar the Z650 and the ZRX1200 are to work on.
I don't ride the Z650 as much as I used to, just up to the local coffee shop on the occasional Sunday morning, but I do take the ZRX for an extended 2 or 3 day ride out through the back-country every month or so. Except during December and January, when the weather is too hot to enjoy riding.
Anyway, I'll try and drop by a bit more often in the future.

Good to have you back.
You have been mentioned occasionally in your absence.
All good.

How about some pictures of both your rides.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. It is good to see that some things have not changed and the folk here are a friendly lot.
Hopefully, this link will show a photo of my Z650. It started out as a 1978 B2, but the wheels are of a '82 model, the front discs are off a Z900 (they have been cross drilled, and thinned) and the oil cooler came from eBay. The carbs have been re-jetted to work with the exhaust and Lynx air-fliters. Sonic springs up front made all the difference to the handling ( I never got around to getting Koni's for the rear), and Metzler tyres.
