Hello, just want to start off by saying I envy all of you who have the ability to alter or customize your bike to your liking, I can't even find a shop that can do the custom work I want done. I ride a 77 Kz 1000 A1, I bought($1500) this past Nov and can't stay off. I haven't done anything yet. Plans for custom swing, and some motor mods.

get a manual and some tools,
the swingarm's been done many times, many ways so that shouldnt be difficult

As you might have suspected, you'll have to do much of the work yourself. Major engine/head work can be done through the several outlets...check the vendor directory above...a number of very reputable vendors can be found. I second jonnybravo...get a genuine Kawasaki shop manual for your bike. AND, welcome to KZR :)

If currently enjoying lots of riding in the twisties, would consider that while lengthening the swing arm usually enhances the riding-straight-ahead stability of the bike, it reduces the cornering ability and ease of cornering.

For example, dedicated drag bikes may use lengthened swing arms to enhance stability at straight line speed, and reduce tendency to wheelie, but they can't corner worth a flip.

Welcome, and to pay a shop to do the fab work woud cost more than a new bike but like the others have said the swingarm mod is almost a period correct mod. and with the info and help on here could be done without too many headaches.

But that seems like a really nice rider. It is a slippery slope when the mods begin!

Hey, Im in GA also. Make sure any mods you make are started in the winter to reduce your down time. They allways take longer and cost more than you plan for. What part of GA are you in?

I am in Stone Mt. Thank you all for the advise and the welcome, I'm already on top of gettin that manual as well as reading up on all the countless info. And by the way can anyone tell me the correct term for those screws under the carb that hold the fuel??? The only stupid question is one not asked LOL

Generally called the "drain screw" or "drain plug."

Listed on kawasaki.com as "guide screw," but rarely hear it called that.
