Hello from Arizona
20 Jan 2012 12:29
After a long hiatus from riding motorcycles I am finally back in the saddle. Yesterday I picked up a 1980 KZ1000 LTD which just turned 20K miles. It seems to be a fine runner, but she will need a little bit of help cosmetically. The previous owner started the transformation to a cafe racer but I still have lots of stuff left to do.
I am looking forward to hanging out in this forum.
Any cool peeps in the Phoenix Metro area wanting to go on group rides?
Cheers,
Chris

Welcome.
I'm not in the Pheonix area (nor Arizona for that matter), but I'm sure you'll find lots of buds down those parts.
Your best friend is going to be a decent service manual for your year/bike! Save you $$$ in the future with just the basic maintenence like valve adjustments.
best of luck.

PS - Add your bike/local and such to your profile -and everybody loves pictures!

This should get you started:
www.meetup.com/Arizona-Cafe-Racers
Precious little in the way of established vintage bike groups or KZ specific groups but there are a lot of riders (I mean, a whole lot) of riders in the valley. I've seen Z's and KZ's of every stripe, including Rickmans, roaming about here.
Here's another popular thing:
www.rockandrollcarshow.com/
The weather here this time of year is perfect for riding. The Pavilions are rocking too because of the big auto auctions going on.
Welcome back, glad to see you.

Thanks for the welcome! I will be posting pics of my new bike soon... Funny, I don't live too far away from Zorba's and I drive by there at least once a day.
