Hi from New Zealand was created by TC64
Just wanted to say a big hello to everyone on this forum. I'm the owner of a KZ1000K1 LTD & a KZ750M1 CSR. I've only recently purchased the LTD & both bikes are very rare in NZ. If there are any other owners of either bike from NZ, then I'd love to hear from you all.

I have one question, if the build on my LTD is 8/81, does this make it a K1??? Would the K2 be a 1982 build?

Cheers, Tony :)

I live in Waipawa, that's about 550km's from Auckland, but at least still in the North Island! What brings you this way?

Welcome Tony! Welcome to KZR. You have a K2 if your frame number is >6901 (if a Japanese assemble) or > 500001 (if a USA assemble...note that all USA assembled bikes have a leading '5' in the numeric portion of the frame VIN).

Thanks McDroid, great info! My frame number is JKAKZCK14CA008259, so I figure it's a K2 model??
Out of curiosity, is the engine number suppossed to be related to the frame number in any way? My engine number is KZT00JE023222.

Thanks again, Tony :)

Yep...a K2 model. After the Z1 series, the frame and motor VIN numbers of big bore Kawasaki are not clearly related...rephrased, after 1975, the relationship is not clear.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.
The LTD has only been with me for a couple of months, have wanted one for years but very scarce here, bought it sight unseen from another part of the country & had it trucked here. This one needs some TLC to get it back to 'originalish' condition, but I'm buying parts out of the US as fast as I can because the exchange rate is so good to me at the moment.
Just about to overhaul the clutch & new clutch/throttle cables Gotta import some original bars & eventually the correct pipes/mufflers....sometime!! And LTD1000 sidecover badges, thoses on the bike are painted for some reason & a very good job too ;)

Just on holiday! Meeting an Aussie friend and his wife in Auckland as he has a sister living there. Going to tour as much of your country as we can for several days then fly over to Cairns to their place out near the woop-woop. We'll see the barrier reef and all that we can up there before flying back to the NZ for our flight back to the US.
