Im going to look at a 1979 kz 750 in the next few days and was wondering if there was anything that i should look at specifically. Also how is it getting parts for this year.

Firstly, how skilled are you? Have you worked on cars or motorcycles before? With a factory service manual, you can do and learn quite a bit. As for what to look for, some things are pretty standard: the amount of rust on it (whether it has any or not), whether the seller has the title or not, when it was last ridden, if the wiring looks like rats have made a nest out it, if there are any leaks and where they are, if it's a chain drive then make sure to look at the sprockets to see how worn they are and if they are rusted up.
To be honest, pretty much anything can be fixed, depending on how involved you want to be in the process. But people on here have brought some basket cases back from the scrap yard and turned them into show bikes without spending an arm and a leg, so anything is possible.

+1 and welcome. best decision I have made in years was to buy that old bike

but be forwarned its addicting starts out just gonna get it running and then maybe some new bars and before you know it you are into a full blown resto or complete mod.

but not to worry you have come to the right place
