Aussie KZ1000 owner
13 Dec 2011 08:27 - 13 Dec 2011 08:31
G'day guys,
well.......I haven't been into bikes all that long - only a couple of years. I've had old cars all my life (Mopars). I've got 3 bikes at the moment, but my latest is a 1982 KZ1000 LTD.
I bought it here in Sydney, but it is an import from the States. We actually never had this particular model down here, but I was after another bike, and simply liked the look of the 1000.
Today it was officially registered for the first time, after a couple of weeks of jumping through hoops for the local Motor Registry getting an engineers ticket and arranging insurances and the like. Great to finally have it on the road and able to ride it.
I've tried sourcing info on the net, but it's a bit hard jumping in cold. Anyway.....if I'm successful there's be a picture of my bike here somewhere. I'll no doubt be scouring the forum trying to fix problems I come across.....already have what sounds like a wheel bearing noise coming back from the Motor registry, but we'll have a closer look at that one tomorrow.
Peter

Welcome aboard!
What kind of Mopars are we talking about? I've spent quite a bit of time around my father's '70 AAR for my high school senior project.

G'day guys,
thanks for the replies. I've had the Val since I was 17......just pulled the motor out last week to tart her up a little. Had Aussie Vals all my life, a few Chargers, and more recently a 71 Dodge Superbee I sold to buy a bike, believe it or not.
Really enjoying the bikes though. I think i wanted something different after all the cars and the bikes are a great hobby. The Kwaka seems pretty solid and runs great. I'm enjoying pulling bits off and cleaning them up.
Someone told me that the Z1R is basically the same bike out here.....is that right ? I'm wondering because I'm not sure what to quote when I go to the bike shop for bits. And who's Dale and Dave ??

Great looking bike. I have several friends from Australia and I ship a lot of parts there. I shipped 1200 lbs. in July.
Lots of info here so you have found the right place to hang out. Roy
