Hi from NE PA
29 Nov 2011 13:58
Hello from northern PA. I just picked up a rough-ish KZ750 LTD this summer, and have been alternating between riding and tinkering with it. It'll be something of a project, but I'm keeping it practical. Trying to make it into a scrambler-type bike a la the Honda CL series and the Triumph Scrambler. Need to raise the rear a bit, hoping to scare up an 18" rear wheel and possibly some slightly longer rear shocks.
Lots of really sharp bikes on here...and lots of good info.

No pics yet...I haven't actually changed anything aside from adding a set of dirtbike bars from some vintage Kawasaki, and removing some gigantic sissy bar/backrest thingy. Will try to snap a few pix later today...
I don't often get near Williamsport, I work around Troy/Mansfield area and live in northern Susquehanna county (just a mile shy of the NY state line actually).

Welcome jaredthegeek, looks like you have a 1980 KZ750 H1 (LTD model with 2 pc seat).
The changes look good.

Good Luck,

The title says it's an '81, but I don't guess a lot changed between the years. I like the bobber look, but this is going to see a fair amount of dirt road use (I live on one) so I'm heading in the scrambler direction. Hoping to figure out what 18" rear wheels will bolt up, and perhaps some slightly longer rear shocks. Eventually hoping to arrive at something resembling a Triumph Scrambler but with an inline-4...

For the 18" rear wheel, look for one from a 650. Complete assembly (left spacer, cush drive, wheel, right spacer, disc and caliper with bracket and torque rod) will slip right in the swing arm and use the same axle diameter. The 750 has a 630 chain and sprockets and the 650 uses a 530.
I am using an assembly from a 78 KZ650 that I have test fit and am going to change the sprockets and chain to the 530 size.
I will post you some pictures tonight for ref.
Good Luck
Jim
