Was it stored with gas in the tank? If it were me,I'd pull the sparkplugs(13/16" socket), squirt some PB Blaster or Marvel Mystery Oil in the cyclinders, replace the plugs and let sit for a few days to a week.
After this time has gone by,remove a CD sized cover on the right side of the engine, and with the plugs out, see if the engine can be turned with a wrench on the large "Nut" on the end of the crankshaft. I believe it's 13 or 14 mm. Do not use the smaller bolt to turn the engine over as if it shears off inside the crankshaft and might require a machine shop to remove the broken piece.
You're going to need a manual for all the maintanance on this bike:

Rixtrix, welcome to KZR! This is a little off topic but we could use another rider in New England for our North American relay ride.

Thanks for the advice ! I have pulled the plugs and sprayed with PB Blast-just waiting for a new battery and the manual has already been ordered. Is there a way to prime the motor via the oil pump before cranking it over ?? I may have to pull the head anyway as the #2 plug was cross-threaded into the head

Would consider a reverse tap (aka back-tap) tool that starts the re-threading at deep end of the hole where the threads are still good.
Does not require removal of the engine head.
Good Fortune!
