Hi guys, just joined the forum to see what can be done with the KZ750. I am looking at an 1980 LTD with a little over 22,000 miles on it. The owner claims it runs good, and is ready to ride, but I haven't had a chance to get over to look at it. I was just wondering what you guys though was a good price for it. The miles seem a little high for me, I am not too familiar with how long these engines last.

Any info or help you guys can give me would be great.

The miles on that bike are nothing, The 750 LTD engine is based on the KZ650 engine and they are darned near bulletproof. One of the members here has one with over 160,000 miles. I'd be more concerned about the consumable type items like hoses, cables, tires,battery, chain,and sprockets etc. Those little things can get spendy in a hurry. You didn't mention what the seller was asking for the bike.

I have a 750 4 cylinder and love it. It's a standard model, not the LTD, but it runs great and is a lot of fun (to ride and work on). Mine had 25k miles on it when I got it, and I'm probably close to 30k now, if not more. :)

Well thats good to hear that they are great motors, I really am not concerned about the consumable items, those are cheap compared to motor/tranny work. Plus this would be more of a project bike for the winter, I have an 03 R1 that I currently ride.

For price he wants 800 for it, from what a friend tells me he'd pay $1 for every cc for an older bike, but I dunno.
