New Member Intro

New to the KZ world. What a great site! Picked up a CSR with the plan for a winter project and most of all to get my 12 year old some Dad time and iterested in something besides Halo.

Its been sittin in a garage for several years and sounds like it has the typical KZ needs: Makeover with petcock rebuild, new seat, new bars, new exhaust and some imagination/guidance from those who have done it before.

On the bright side, its got only 9K miles to go with its 80s retro raise white letter dunlops. I thought that those only came on rusted out Novas.

Welcome to KZR! I used to have a CSR just like that, only mine was a total basket case. Due to the birth of my kids I had to get rid of that bike at that time, so it never got there. It was, however the bike that got me hooked on KZ's.

That's awesome that you want to get your son involved. Does he seem interested?

I'm sure you know this, but if not, please ditch those old Dunlops. Old rubber is dangerous.

Thanks for the safety reminder. Should be obvious, but not always and not to all people especially when it could be some kid buying a bike for the first time. Those tires are only a good for a picture. May put on my fake mullett and bubba teeth to take a picture before I change them.

My son actually seems interested a little. Doesnt really make a difference on how much time he will help, just makes a difference on enthusiasm. If I can get both then I win.

I sure hope you have good times with your Boy getting it all going again. Personally I hate, and won't play those type of computer games.
To many of the younger population can't use any part of their hands but the finger tips. Hopefully you can teach your boy some skills.

Me too, its the downfall of modern society, i hate em with a vengance. It may improve kids reaction times but their general health suffers.

Welcome to KZR! I love the fact you are doing this with your son. My oldest is still to young (just turned 10). But that only means I will have to purchase another project in a couple of years so we can do next one together. My three year old tried to help me with my current project while I was giving it its initial wash down. He took the hose nozzle/trigger and gave it a shot up the right exhaust. I let out a loud shriek which prompted him to cry. Of course, I had to immediately comfort him at tell him its o.k. :laugh: Enjoy the project.
