Should I get into this? Looking for advice.

Looking into buying a kz1000 project with an extra engine/frames and parts, and I was curious as to what to look for when buying one, aside from the most common things.

The bike is from a 1982 police and it is chain driven, with rebuilt carbs and from what the owner told me it was running before he started taking body parts off the bike and removed the battery etc...

I've always wanted a kz1000, stock, cafe or otherwise, they all look good. I've ridden one, but it was set up for drag use with an extended swing arm, hard struts and the like. The price is what is getting me very tempted to take the man up on his offer.

I guess I'm just looking to see if there is anything in particular i should look for when checking this particular model out.

The man who posted the ad asked for 600, the price is currently down to 400 if I pick it up as soon as possible. Titled bike with extra titled frames.

Yes, I possess some mechanical knowledge, but new to kawasaki's or kz's.

Go for it.

I paid $500 for my stock 76 KZ900 rigged as this aweful looking touring rig. I am just gettin around to working on it after more than 18 years under a tarp in my garage.

Its a fun break from life's chores, even if we put in only a few hours a week messing with it.

Do it! I paid that much for a single bike with lots of missing parts. Cop bikes are great because they made them for so long. The KZ1000P was made up until 2002. Lots of parts are available. Heck those titled frames are worth a minimum of $100 each. Talk to the member named "Cavanaughracing." Larry has seen lots of KZ motors, and he can tell you what to watch out for on a particular model.

You kidding us here where this KZ isn't in your possession already for that price....
Titled frame alone these days go for $300 plus... :pinch:

Now throw into the mix 2 engines, should be able to get a running engine no doubt... ;)

If this KZ is in/near Az and you don't want, give me the link and I'll grab it up in a heart beat.
