Hey everyone
02 Aug 2011 03:31
Hello. I just recently got my very first bike which happens to be a non running 79 KZ650 SR. It needs plenty of TLC some carb work and an apparently hard to find rear brake master cylinder but I'm in love with it already. Definitely looking forward to learning as much as I can about this bike and picking your brains as I try to breathe new life into it.

Welcome.
Looks like your starting off with a nice project.
Post up some progress pictures.
Is the seat mounted to the hinges?
Fit will be tricky as it looks to be a B,C or F model seat and tail on your D (SR) model.
Have fun, and ride safely.

haha I'm already on it everyday and it doesn't even start yet. I do in fact need parts. I'm having problems finding a whole rear master cylinder for the SR. @bearshawk Do you have a working spare I could buy off you? Or know someone with an extra?

Check out the kz650 link in my signature, and ask among the members there.
I don't have one myself.
Do take a picture of yours, as the one on my '78 C is the older style that uses round pads, but I think '79 and on C models (and maybe others) use the same rear caliper as yours that use the rectangular sintered pads.
