New Member and Motorcycle Owner!
22 Jun 2011 11:50
Hey everyone,
I just bought my first motorcycle at the young age of 41, a 1976 KZ900. I've always been a huge fan of classic bikes. I had initially wanted a new Triumph Bonneville, but didn't have $8,799.00 lying around! I found my KZ on Craigslist, and have been slowly falling in love with it over the last 2 weeks. I don't know if this makes any sense to you all, but my bike has such a 'personality'. It's got some serious power, but it's also real 'mellow'. I'm loving cruising in 3rd at 35-45 on twisty country roads - man, what a feeling!
Anyway, I've never owned a bike before - my 2 older brothers have owned & built bikes, so I've always been around them. It's my turn now.
I'm planning on learning as much as I can (including a rider safety course!). As for mods, I really like the look of the LTD models, so I want to eventually install the lower 'superbike' bars or something similar, and a shorter front fender.
Take care,
W.T.F.F.

Welcome to KZR! Nice lookin' ride you got there. I'll second that the rider's safety course is worth the time and money. BTW, I think the superbike bars are a perfect fit on these bikes.

Hey, welcome. I'm a new rider myself with an 81kz440. I'm learning a lot, making some mistakes (only technical) and learning as I go!
Def do the motorcycle safety course, and don't go cheap on a brand new torque wrench!
