Bought my first KZ
16 Jun 2011 14:30
Hey all, I'm endo, brought here via CustomFighters.com by Ultimate Fighter.
I managed to score an insanely great deal on a 77 KZ650 last night after many years of lusting after one...I've owned many bikes, about 15 in the last 9 years, but never a KZ. It'll fit in nicely with the KLR, the wife's Super Sherpa, and my 7/11 GSXR project. Very much looking forward to getting into this!
Picture below, got the bike for $100. Headers have been wrapped, tank is perfect, forks are great, 40,000kms on it. Have many "new in box" parts such as a gorgeous headlight. The carbs were bought from someone apparently through this forum that refurbs them, they've barely been used, they look pristine. Previous owner did the IC igniter bypass as well, just been reading up on that today. Anyways, I'm just doing my research now on doing some mods. For now I just wanna get it running so I can ride a bit, then resurrect it over the winter. Priority one is to finish my GSXR!!
Cheers!!

Welcome to KZR! Looks like you got a good score on the KZ. That bike looks familiar to me. Did you buy it from another KZR member?
BTW the 7/11 looks like a cool project. How much farther do you have to go on that one?

I believe he's a member on here but I knew him through a local Calgary forum.
The 7/11 is coming along. That was a bodywork mockup pic. The engine is all done, finally. The upper shock mount was just completed and I'm working on the subframe mounts. I hope to have that bike running by mid-July but we'll see how that goes! That engine was just in there to lineup sprockets and swingarm spacing. The real engine is a fully built overbored 1986 1052 engine, now 1109cc...aiming for 150hp NA, and who knows what on nitrous

just posted a build thread on CF a few minutes ago. Right now, that's the only pic I have. Hoping that I can finish my assignment for school tonight, I'll get some garage time over the weekend.
