hey everyone, i got three huyndred dollars into a 1979 kz 750, when i got it it it sorta ran, so i changed the plugs and it ran better, so i decided to try my luck with the carbs, i took them off, cleaned then up even tthough they weren't dirty at all, more for educational purposes i guess. anyway now the damn thing will not start at all, only way to get it running is to roll start it, then it runs like crap, but only for a few minutes with the choke fully on, it won't kick start or electric start,HELP, the wife is already complaining about my paperweight that was supposed to save on gas and be a little fun for us both.

well after replacing the plugs again, it started this morning, ran like crap, albeit with the choke fully off, had to get to work, so didn't fool with the air/fuel mixture screws, my question now is do the carbs need to be sync'd up, or is that something only htose bikes with vacuum pressure on the carbs need to worry about, should i just fiddle with the air/ fuel mix to get it to optimal running, thanks.

okay, so how do I delete this posting, now that the bike is running good enough to ride to work, thirty miles one way, so I don't need anymore feedback on how to get it running. noone replied anyway

sorry,just noticed your post. :)
how far out did you turn the screws? 1 1/2 turns is normally a good starting point than fine tune from there.
did you check float levels to make sure theyre close to each other? B)

yep, did all that, still working on the mixture though, i bent the "tang", i don't know what it is called on the left carb to match the right, the bike seems to run pretty good, I still got a few things to work out, like the pain in the A#$ of kickstarting all the time,(although i kinda enjoy all the looks it gets, since it usually fires right up on first kick) another thing, this thing has NO power above 55 at about 5000 rpm's, is this to be expected out of an old bike that sat in the garage for five or so years? thank you very much. btw i like your quote, makes me want another one.
